He was trying to play it as if the ball isn't coming to him, it's going to the other wicket. This made the runner relax his speed. And in the last moment he gets the ball and runs him out. That's like unheard of territory. That's like Faker level in League. Or Miracle in DOTA 2.

There is no rule how far a bowler can run from , the bowler has to find the right balance , remember he has to bowl 6 balls in an over and many times depending on the format of the game , let me give you hypothetical scenario , if a bowler’s run up is a mile , how many balls do you think he can bowl before he lost energy and worn out ? Cricket is not strait forward to understand , cricket does address this issues in different way , there is time limit finish innings , there is over limit how many over a bowler can bowl. For example if a team do not bowl all overs with in the timeline , there. Will be penalty . This not only addresses run up but also varies aspects like time taken between overs , cricket covers all bases but not directly , it’s not just a game cricket is a concept.

Bowlers task is not to hit wickets , but get the batsmen out.
